LA Hoopty

What's the first thing you do when you jump off the plane in Los Angeles? You get a car...it's LA. For a budget conscious filmmaker like myself, I chose the nearest Rent-A-Wreck and picked up this teal '96 Escort. It's straight out of Rad Racer. Rolled over to BlizzCon in this puppy and it ran like a charm!

Ran great until someone slashed my tire. Time to dig the doughnut out.

Mt Dew Gamers Fuel

Occasionally when we tell people about our project we get a response like, "Sounds good but you better hurry up and get it out there before people stop playing the game." That is when we realize it's all gone straight over their head.

This thing is only growing. Case in point....Mt. Dew's recent licensing of Blizzard's World of Warcraft for two new sodas. You can either help the Alliance (by drinking the blue soda) or prove your allegance to the Horde by guzzling the orange-redish drink. Either way it's a plus for Pepsi Co., owner of the Dew brand.

They even launched a special website where players can get "tokens" by visiting and recruiting friends, which can then be entered in drawings for shirts, satchels (modern day fanny pack) and a computer. Of course this n00b signed up. My clickable banner is below...so I get my tokens.

First ever blog post...

Hello...my name is Ben Gonyo and not only will I be the one attempting to maintain this blog but I'm also the filmmaker responsible for Gamers the Documentary (found online at: www.GamersFilm.com).

We're currently shopping this project and hope to find a home for it sooner rather than later. Check out the website and of course this blog, where you'll come across plenty of gamer related hilarity. 

There were a handful of great misadventures shooting this film over the last year such as; sneaking backstage at BlizzCon to interview comedian Jay Mohr. Having our tires slashed in LA (and the subsequent giant cockroach.) A trip to Boston to meet Curt Schlling, energy drink chugging contests, late night fiascos and more.

I hope to bring you all of these stories with video, pics and a dash of humor. Sign up for our mailing list at the website above. And I think you can subscribe to these blogs or something...but I'm not sure...this is my first post.
